Catalonia World Region of Gastronomy 2025

In June 2023, Catalonia’s candidacy received the Catalonia World Region of Gastronomy 2025 recognition, awarded by IGCAT, International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism.

Catalonia is one of the main European food-producing regions, concentrates a first-class gastronomic sector, ranging from household cuisine to great chefs of internationally recognized prestige. The future that we imagine and for which we work is a healthy, sustainable gastronomy, which is part of a culture of harmony, the Mediterranean, capable of guaranteeing that people can exercise their right to decide what they eat.

The Land of Barcelona

Catalonia, with Barcelona as its capital, is a European region in the Mediterranean area, with its own culture, language and traditions.

This millenary land where Greeks and Romans left their mark, lies on the north east of the Iberian Peninsula and borders with France. With a mild mediterranean climate and an unrivalled natural diversity.

Is a country built on a wealth of contrast that make the food absolutely unique. It’s geography, history and culture has moulded a lifestyle where food is more than eating, is the mirror of our people.
